My Background
I’ve been playing drums for more than 50 years and teaching for more than 25 years. I have experience with all modern styles of music, and I’m trained in classical and drum corps/marching band techniques. To this day, I continue to perform in several ensembles, keeping current musically and setting an example for my students.
I currently perform with two highly successful bands. The first being Long Island-based band Victims of Rock, playing great classic rock anthems of the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s. The second being a southern rock tribute band High Noon, playing Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, and other great southern rock bands. All of my experience supports the best learning opportunities for you!

At Drum Instruction by Mike Killela, I have one goal: to channel my students’ passion and energy so that they can leverage the right technique, increase their musical knowledge, grow their repertoire, and pursue their dreams. I have a track record of placing students in school programs and performance opportunities.
